Report Builder Interface

This entire interface is designed to behave and work as if you were working with a physical container, where you can infinitely add items to pre-designed sections. The components of the interface is divided up as such:

  • On the top section, you have the Report Menu Tooltip Bar that includes frequently-used functions for the interface, as buttons.
  • On the left pane, you have the Toolbox that contains all the elements supported by Quickappz and our custom-built Wizards for easier design of your reports
  • In the centre, the white portion, with multiple pre-designed section areas is the Canvas
  • On the right pane, you have the Attributes area that comes into view when you click on any elements present/created on the canvas

The icons displayed here and their functionalities, in order, are as follows:

  • Logo : contains a brief description of which file you are working on.
  • Save, Close, Preview

    • Save: Just save the current page you’re working on.
    • Save & Close: Save and close the current page you’re working on.
    • Close: Just close the current page without saving.
    • Preview: See a functional preview of the current page you’re working on.

    Report Wizard

    the wizard that enables you to gather, aggregate and present your data in charts or tables.

    Link Tables

    to design multi-table reports, you need to establish the relationship between the tables. Select the required fields from the two tables between which you want to establish a relationship. Click on Add Link to add a chosen relationship or Remove Link to remove an established relationship from the list of items (relationships).

    Add Group

    add grouped data to your reports by adding the field which you want to group together and select the sorting order. Click on OK to add the group definition.

    Insert Summary

    use aggregate functions on your data to display, for example: the total count of products purchased, on your reports. Select the field you want to apply aggregate functions on, from the Field to Summarise dropdown. Choose the aggregate function from Calculate Summary and the position of the summarised field in Summary Location.

    Page Setup

    select the specifications for your page on which the reports will be printed. Setting these configurations aids you to design reports that are picture-perfect for your page size.

    Show Sql Query

    Here, the developer can view the generated SQL query.

    Print Preview

    preview your report in the same window. Depending on your system, you may have to check on the Enable background graphics box to preview any styles applied to your report. Click on the Cancel button to close the preview.

    Show/Hide Toolbox

    to toggle showing and hiding the toolbox pane on the left.

    Show/Hide Attributes

    to toggle showing and hiding the attributes pane on the right.

    Remove Element

    select an element from your report design and click on the button to delete it.

    Undo

    undo your last action.

    Redo

    undo the effects on the last undo action.

    Copy Element

    to copy all selected elements from the report Canvas.

    Cut Element

    to cut all selected elements from the report Canvas.

    Paste Element

    to paste all selected elements on the report Canvas.

    Canvas Resizer

    select the percentage view of your report Canvas. Enables you to zoom in/out the report design to insert minute designs into your reports, among other functions.
